About

Originally from Lincolnshire, Helena is a Sheffield based silversmith who takes inspiration from mechanical movements and mechanisms when designing and creating her silverware and jewellery.

After finishing her BA Hons in Jewellery and Metalwork at Sheffield Hallam University Helena then continued her studies and received a Masters in Design, where she specialized in metalwork.

Helena designs and fabricates a range of pieces, consisting of boxes, candlestick holders, vessels and jewellery. Each piece is made to invite interaction through either intricate fittings, multiple parts or decorative surface finishes. Helena creates forms that are “clean” and sleek with a smooth surface. On certain pieces, Helena adds decorative elements by applying patination to the metals surface. She does this in various ways, either by painting the patina to create “brush-stroke” patterns or completely covering the surface in vibrate greens and blues.

Helena is based at Yorkshire Artspace’s, purpose-built building for artists, Persistence Works in Sheffield,
