About

Helena is a Sheffield based silversmith who takes inspiration from mechanical movements and mechanisms when designing and creating her one-off pieces of silverware and jewellery.

After finishing her BA Hons in Jewellery and Metalwork at Sheffield Hallam University Helena then continued her studies and received a Masters in Design, where she specialized in metalwork.

With the use of honest mechanisms, Helena’s practice is inspired by interaction and movement, consisting of containers, candlestick holders and a collection of jewellery that slot together and some which include a range of handmade fittings. Her work involves a mix of materials, including combinations of sterling silver and base metals which go through a process of patination to create blue, green and purple colours on the surface of the metal.

Helena is based at Yorkshire Artspace’s, purpose-built building for artists, Persistence Works in Sheffield,
